Wushu concluded its competitions at the Brasília 2026 FISU World University Championship Combat Sports with a showcase of technical excellence, artistic precision and thrilling sanda contests. Over six days of competition, university athletes from around the world competed in both taolu and sanda disciplines, highlighting the diversity and growing global reach of the sport.

The championship brought together athletes from some of the strongest wushu nations, including China, Hong Kong, Türkiye, Singapore, Canada, the United States and Thailand. The high level of competition was reflected in a widely distributed medal table, with Hong Kong finishing atop the overall standings and Türkiye achieving notable success, particularly in the sanda events.

Host nation Brazil also enjoyed memorable moments in front of its home crowd. Brazilian athletes reached the podium in several events, including a world university title won by Lucas Gabriel Quirino de Freitas in the men’s 52kg sanda category. The performances underscored the continued development of Brazilian wushu and its increasing competitiveness on the international stage.
